Position: Cytotechnologist (Contract)

Location: Ithaca, New York, USA

Duration: 13 weeks

Schedule: Monday to Friday | Day Shift | 7.5 hours/day (37.5 hours/week)

Compensation: $135,000 – $145,000 (No benefits, bonus, or relocation support)

About The Role

Seeking an experienced Cytotechnologist for a short-term contract assignment in Ithaca, NY. The role involves screening and evaluating gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens using the Hologic ThinPrep system, with participation in ultrasound/CT-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Screen and evaluate cytology specimens using the Hologic ThinPrep system
Document findings in electronic medical records (Epic)
Participate in ultrasound/CT-guided FNA procedures
Ensure specimen integrity and accurate documentation
Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and troubleshoot as needed
Adhere to regulatory, safety, and infection control protocols
Maintain quality assurance/workload records and complete 24 hours of continuing education per year
Manage specimen retention and coordinate send-out consultations

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Cytotechnologist
License: Valid New York State Cytotechnologist License
Certifications: Hologic ThinPrep Imager & Review Scope certification
Technologies: Experience with Hologic ThinPrep and Epic
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field
