Salary Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience up to $50,000. Pay Basis Monthly Job Summary
The Applied Physiology and Advanced Imaging Lab, led by Dr. Michael Nelson, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist I to support ongoing human research studies. The successful candidate will contribute to day-to-day research operations involving advanced imaging modalities such as MRI, optical imaging, and vascular ultrasound, primarily in adult research volunteers with a range of health conditions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Project management
- Coordinating research studies at UTA and across partnering sites.
- Train personnel on laboratory procedures and techniques
- Maintaining lab supplies, including ordering and organizing
- Maintaining lab cleanliness and organization
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and participant data.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, including physicians, engineers, and graduate students.
Laboratory Equipment Management
- Assemble & construct experimental and/or specialty equipment.
- Maintain operational efficiency of experimental and/or specialty equipment.
Data Collection
- Assist in the development and refinement of research protocols and experimental procedures.
- Handle all research subjects according to appropriate lab best practices.
- Learn all appropriate lab-related techniques.
- Assist with and perform experimental data collection as assigned.
- Conduct research studies.
Data Analysis & Management
- Interpret data based on established protocols.
- Use analytical and logical reasoning to organize data.
- Manage and maintain research databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
Training and Development
- Staying current with all training necessary to complete data collection, analysis and interpretation
- Ensure compliance with institutional and federal research regulations, including IRB protocols and HIPAA guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Biology, Bioengineering, another related field, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience or completion of research projects.
- Previous laboratory management.
- Previous experience or completion of a human research project.
