Title: Ultrasound Technologist (Breast) - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

Role Overview: The ultrasound technologist performs duties associated with the daily function of a breast ultrasound technologist.
Required Experience: 1 year minimum breast ultrasound experience required. Ability to perform mammography services preferred.
Required Education: Graduate of a JCERT accredited School of Radiologic Technology or Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program.
Required License: Current ARDSM or ARRT(S) certification. Must maintain current license as a Diagnostic X-Ray Machine Operator by the Indiana Department of Health. CPR certified.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Listed below are major duties and responsibilities of the Ultrasound Technologist. The person hired for this position is delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability to carry out his/her assigned duties. .
- Performs breast ultrasound.
- Performs needle localizations.
- Performs basic patient care.
- Checks and verifies all physician orders.
- Verifies correct patient identification.
- Instructs and explains procedure to each patient and/or family member.
- Demonstrates a positive, courteous, and helpful attitude with patients and staff.
- Performs each exam using proper positioning and technical factors.
- Assists radiologist with procedures as needed.
- Uses appropriate documentation for patient care review.
- Evaluates exams for quality and completeness.
- Operates all equipment efficiently.
- Maintains a clean, well-stocked environment.
- Follows universal and isolation precautions.
- Assists in any all related imaging areas as needed.
- Adheres to all department policies and procedures.
- Comply with all HIPAA Privacy and Security Policies and Procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Stand, stretch, squat, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull, lift and work in cramped quarters.
- Able to lift patients and equipment using proper body mechanics.
- React, move, work quickly, and with multiple distractions.
- Have good hand-eye coordination.
PATIENT CARE COMPETENCIES
- Check and verify each physician order.
- Verify correct patient identification.
- Respond to patient comfort and physical needs promptly.
- Educate and instruct patient and family about the procedure to be performed using appropriate terms.
- Update patient and family about exam progress and waiting time.
DOCUMENTATION COMPETENCIES
- Record a complete, accurate patient history.
- Ensure that all exam paperwork is complete and correct.
- Record any deviation from normal procedure on the appropriate form.
- Document any additional patient information on the exam request for the radiologists.
- Review and record patient lab orders.
