Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ultrasonographer to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures with precision and compassion in an ER setting. This role involves providing high-quality imaging services to assist in accurate diagnosis and patient care. The Ultrasonographer will collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes, utilizing advanced imaging techniques and maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Conduct diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including general, limited vascular, and ob/gyn.
- Ensure proper patient positioning and comfort throughout the imaging process.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of imaging results for review by physicians.
- Apply aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Operate sonography equipment with proficiency, utilizing knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and provide reassurance.
- Collaborate with medical staff to interpret findings and assist in diagnosis.
- Adhere to all safety standards, including infection control protocols and radiation safety guidelines where applicable.
- Keep equipment well-maintained and report any technical issues promptly.
- Stay current with advancements in sonography technology and medical imaging practices through ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Proven experience or training in sonography, from an accredited school.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to general, ob/gyn and vascular.
- Proficiency in medical imaging techniques, including ultrasound operation and image interpretation.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to demonstrate compassionate patient care while maintaining high professional standards.
- Knowledge of diagnostic physics and principles.
- Reliability when dispatched to a facility when scheduled "on call".
- The ability to work independently when called into the ER to perform exams.
- ARDMS certification or AART certification as an Ultrasonographer or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is preferred.
