Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Clinical Imaging to establish and lead our data science function. As the first hire in this area, you will be both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor, responsible for building the foundation of our data science capabilities in retinal image processing and AI. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the company’s data strategy while directly advancing therapies that restore sight. Your expertise will be critical in advancing Osanni’s mission to deliver therapies that prevent and reverse blindness caused by retinal diseases.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the company’s data science vision for retinal image analysis and AI.
- Establish best practices for data workflows, experimental design, and statistical analysis.
Hands-on Execution
- Develop and deploy machine learning models for retinal imaging datasets (OCT, fundus, angiography).
- Perform image processing, statistical analysis, and experimental validation independently.
- Build scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support research and clinical programs.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal cross-functional team and clinicians to integrate imaging insights into therapeutic development.
- Represent data science in interdisciplinary discussions, publications, and external collaborations.
Innovation & Impact
- Stay ahead of emerging AI/ML methods and evaluate their potential for adoption.
- Translate imaging data into actionable insights that accelerate therapeutic discovery.
Required Skills and Background:
- PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Neuroscience, or related field (preferred). Master’s degree with extensive relevant experience will also be considered.
- Strong background in retinal image processing (e.g., Heidelberg, RetinAI) and ophthalmic imaging modalities.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
- Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data science and statistical analysis.
- 7+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience in data science, computational biology, or biomedical imaging.
- Demonstrated success in experimental design, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis.
- Track record of publications, patents, or translational research contributions.
- Experience leading projects or initiatives.
- Ability to set strategy while executing independently in a start-up environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and scientific curiosity.
- Excellent communication skills.
The expected base pay range for this position is $175,000 - $205,000 plus bonus and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
