A specialized role is available for an experienced sonographer with a focus on Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) in a high-risk obstetrics setting. This contract opportunity requires a minimum of two years of recent experience performing MFM sonography, including detailed fetal anatomy assessments, growth scans, biophysical profiles (BPPs), Doppler studies, and other high-risk pregnancy imaging techniques. Candidates must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the Henrico, VA area and be willing to travel between two medical centers. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced perinatal environment is essential.
Required Qualifications
- ARDMS certification in OB/GYN (mandatory)
- Minimum 2 years of MFM sonography experience in a high-risk OB/GYN environment
- Proficiency in operating GE ultrasound equipment and fetal monitoring devices
- In-depth knowledge of normal and abnormal female and fetal anatomy and physiology
- Ability to perform transvaginal cervical assessments and assist in diagnostic ultrasound-guided procedures (e.g., amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling)
- Strong communication skills for patient and family interactions in sensitive clinical situations
- Basic computer literacy and compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements
- Nuchal Translucency (NT) certification preferred
- CLEAR certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ultrasound examinations for high-risk obstetric patients
- Monitor fetal well-being and perform specialized diagnostic procedures alongside Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists
- Maintain accurate records, equipment operation, and laboratory accreditation standards
- Support daily sonography lab operations, including patient scheduling and supply management
- Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols within all clinical duties
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM (32-hour guaranteed workweek, with possible extension up to 40 hours)
- Scrubs without branding permitted for professional attire
