Job Summary
Performs a variety of Ultrasound imaging procedures as a primary specialty and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Instructs and prepares patients for ultrasound exams.
- Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
- Determines the most suitable anatomical posture and position for proper examination of patient.
- Performs exam with proper technical factors for the part being examined.
- Assesses patient’s understanding of process.
- Assesses, evaluates, and informs physicians of changes in patient’s condition during exam.
- Responsible for safe handling of equipment.
- Complete all work before clocking out and leaving.
- Assists with schedules and future radiology scheduling.
- Aware of departmental policies and procedures annually to better accomplish goals and objectives of the department of radiology.
- Other duties, potentially including other modalities and departments as needed.
- Required to participate in mandatory training of EHR and timecards and demonstrates basic competency in the functions applicable to their role.
- The Ultrasound Technologist reports to the Radiology Manager.
- Maintains a positive, cooperative, and professional relationship and rapport with coworkers, patients, family members, and hospital personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be ARRT/ARDMS or CCI registered with current licensure, or able to obtain licensure at earliest opportunity under written terms.
