JOB SUMMARY:
Provides basic patient care under the direction of the physician. Facilitates patient intake, records patient treatment data necessary for use by internal departments and answers general inquiries. Assists the Consultation Manager in assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adjusts patient schedules when necessary and keeps all technologist informed of any changes.
- Greets and escorts patients to changing room; briefly explain procedure.
- Prepares room set up between patients, including putting proper coil on table, putting previous coil away and changing table sheet.
- Assists patient on and/or off table when requested by technologists.
- Reviews paperwork to ensure it is complete and hand faxes to IC in timely fashion.
- Prints schedules and requests forms for next day.
- Assists the technologist to stay on time by having the next patient ready before the current patient is ready to get off the table.
- Restores and networks all previous exams for next day's returning patients.
- Schedules patients as needed.
- Coordinates scheduling patients: answering phones, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining consent forms and distributing educational material.
- Assists the radiologist and technologist during exams, as requested. Maintains radiation monitor if needed.
- Completes patient exam requisitions. Obtains sufficient information for the exam and the radiologist's report.
- Pulls ID cards (if needed) and files to prepare for following work day including the surgery schedule.
- Inventories supplies, monitors and orders supplies as needed. Uses the RSS ordering system efficiently.
- Prepares film envelopes and file folders in a timely manner.
- Prepares the ultrasound room, or other exam rooms as requested.
- Transports patients to and from the department as needed. Uses correct filing techniques and equipment.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & SPECIFICATIONS:
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer literacy
- Enrollment in current radiologic technologist program (Preferred).
SCHEDULE:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Saturdays half-day as needed
EXPERIENCE:
- Work in a Medical Facility: 2 years (Preferred)
- Customer Service: 2 years (Required)
