POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and/or Lead Technologist, the Ultrasound Technologist will perform all ultrasound duties and other related job-duties as needed to facilitate workflow and promote healthcare. The Ultrasound Technologist will operate ultrasound equipment in a safe and competent manor to produce quality diagnostic images as directed by physicians according to establishedstandards and protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures using proper sterile technique.
- Obtains and reviews documentation prior to performing any exam. ie Physician Prescription, Consent Form, and Contrast Media Questionnaire.
- QCs’ all exams in RISynergy as the exam is completed to ensure accurate historical report data.
- Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic images.
- Responsible for the thorough knowledge of Ultrasound policies, procedures, equipment, and supplies, as well as the operation of PACS, RIS, HIS programs.
- Takes an active part in patient education by explaining the examination process to patients.
- Promotes positive patient relations in a caring environment by making patients comfortable and at ease during procedures.
- Transfers and positions patients using extreme care, patience, and proper body mechanics.
- Identifies patients using the hospital's double identification policy.
- Responds to back-up calls as needed within 30 minutes.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members.
- Ability to apply medical terminology.
- Independent thinking to exercise good judgement in determining actions in any given emergency situation, and the ability to maintain control.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Adhere to the behavioral standards and other policies set forth by the district.
- Completion of all educational and other related requirements annually by the district.
- Upkeep of all related professional licenses, including BLS.

WORK ABILITIES
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Vocational Ultrasound Technology or formal AMA approved educational program.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- ARDMS and or ARRT (US) certified or eligible.
- Current CPR certification required.
