LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is currently looking for a PRN ULTRA SOUND TECH to join our Radiology team.
Must have ARDMS license within 6 months of hire. Required to take one weekend of call per month and pick up shifts to cover vacations and holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
2. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
3. Uses independent judgment during sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
4. Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information, and communicates medical history.
5. Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.
6. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
7. Produces diagnostic medical sonographic images of optimal quality in areas such as obstetrics, gynecologic, abdominal, retroperitoneal and small parts, by using designated imaging systems in the provision of image delivery.
8. Correlate patient’s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for reference use.
9. Provide superior patient care through explanation of ultrasonic imaging procedures according to procedural guidelines and protocols.
10. Assists physicians in such procedures as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, renal biopsies, etc. Scans patient, marks patient’s body, determines angle for puncture, assists as necessary, maintains sterility during those procedures.
11. Assists physicians in such procedures as cystoscopies by preparing sterile tray, prepping patient, assisting as necessary during procedure, and maintains sterility during those procedures.
12. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
13. Maintain equipment in efficient and safe operating order through visual and performance checks of equipment, supplies, and accessories; problem solves equipment failure and imaging quality and contacts service representative regarding equipment problems.
14. Completes all quality checks and ensures equipment and cleaning logs are maintained.
15. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
16. Transports patients to ultrasound room; prepares and maintains room for daily activities.
17. Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
18. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
19. Attends meetings as required.
20. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Experience:
- Sonography: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Required)
- ARRT Certification (Preferred)
