We are seeking a full time to join our OB/GYN Sonographer team. In this role, you will perform diagnostic obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound exams. You will work closely with providers and other team members to ensure the highest quality of care and service.
Hours: 10 hours shift 4 days/week, no weekends
Location: Northbrook
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound exams, including early pregnancy, NT scans, fetal anatomy, and pelvic exams.
- Assist in procedures including saline infusion sonograms and Sono-hysterosalpingograms.
- Accurately capture and analyze images, ensuring high-quality diagnostic results.
- Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians to review and discuss imaging findings.
- Demonstrates independent judgment in performing two-dimensional and three-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of female reproductive anatomy and fetal structures.
- Evaluates the request for diagnostic ultrasound services and assesses the patient to determine the appropriate procedure protocol and methods of application.
- Utilize equipment and accessories, employ techniques and procedures, perform services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice to generate ultrasound images and demonstrate expertise in limiting the exposure to the patient.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing their concerns.
- Obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the patient's diagnosis and treatment management.
- Documents imaging procedures manually and/or electronically to insure correct charging, and patient and film file tracking.
- Sends acquired images to PACS system correctly using the appropriate accession numbers for future retrieval by medical staff.
- Monitors stock of supplies in imaging rooms to assure their regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and by maintenance of a clean and orderly environment.
- Reports incidences of equipment failure, irregularities in equipment performance, and equipment in disrepair to supervisor as soon as possible.
- Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques, as well as relevant medical knowledge.
Required:
- Certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) mandatory.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and pathology related to obstetrics and gynecology.
- Proficiency performing Level 2 anatomical surveys.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team.
- Maintain continued development of education, training, and experience consistent with AIUM site certification.
- Up to date BLS certification.
Preferred:
- Two years of experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Graduate of AMA approved training program in ultrasonography.
Education
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Preferred Education: Additional Healthcare Administration education/certification.
Experience
- Experience: 2 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical office setting.
- Preferred experience: Previous experience in an OB/GYN office setting.
- Must have understanding of medical terminology.
