Job Description
I. PURPOSE OF JOB:
Perform Ultrasound procedures on Inpatients, Outpatients and Emergency
Department patients. Ensure all paperwork and computer entries are
adequately completed and work given to radiologists for
interpretation.
Ii. Essential Functions
- Patient Care: Verify patient ID utilizing National Patient Safety Goals and verify physician orders. Perform Ultrasound procedures using Philips HDI 3000, 3500, 5000,IU22 equipment.
Perform procedures on infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and
geriatric patients applying age-specific criteria.
- Patient Documentation and Departmental Records: Compile and
maintain patient records and schedule books. Utilize hospital
computer applications to enter, view and process patient/exam
data and charges.
- Departmental Coordination: Perform daily maintenance/quality
checks on equipment. Order department supplies. Assist with QI
program.
- Work Behavior and Conduct: Follow hospital and departmental
policies and procedures, i.e. attendance, dress code,
confidentiality, completing assigned duties. Work hours required
to meet department/patient needs, including on-call, overtime and
holidays.
- Professional Growth and Development: Attend educational and
training sessions to enhance professional and personal knowledge
and awareness. Maintain required certifications/licenses.
- Cultural Competency: Recognizing the existence of cultural
differences; utilizing appropriate resources available throughout
the hospital to respond to the needs of the pediatric,
adolescent, adult and geriatric patient, family member and/or
visitor.
Job Qualifications
IV. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Graduate of accredited program.
Registered.
On the job training accepted in lieu of graduation
from accredited program if candidate is registered.
- Experience: Prior experience with Philips equipment preferred.
- Other Skills: Good communication and customer service skills.
Current BLS certification.
- Training time required once hired: 1-3 months
