Job Summary
Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Recognized as field modality expert. Highly competent in the Imaging specialty area, spending 50% of time or more in repairing, inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, and calibrating equipment. Serves as a front-line responder for escalated service events. Performs duties and established and recognized standards as adopted by the Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
- Completion of a 2-year Associate degree, military training, or academic work aligned with AAMI’s Core Competencies for the Biomedical Equipment Technician, and a basic knowledge of mathematics, anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, medical terminology, English, computer and networking peripherals, and professional skills.
- Highly specialized professional having special training or equivalent in Imaging equipment.
- Performs highly skilled work of considerable difficulty.
- This level typically requires 4 or more years of related experience and demonstration of the specific skills/experience listed below.
Specific Skills/Experience
- Exhibits a detailed understanding and can fully communicate the use of devices supported
- Can provide advanced support of acuity equipment for direct patient care.
- Has in depth understanding of the operations and environment that they support such as hospital, clinic, etc.
- Has advanced experience in their assigned clinical environment
- Possesses an in depth understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology.
- Adept at learning on the job as well as teaching and mentoring others.
- Is knowledgeable about both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
- Can successfully support the solution of organization-level customer service issues, especially those in their areas of specialty.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of radiological systems.
- Has a basic understanding of project management terms and methods
- Project specialists have advanced mastery and certification in project management methodologies.
